The Oil and Gas Chemical Engineering Faculty of the University of Shiraz was built through an agreement signed between the National Iranian Gas Company and the University of Shiraz in March 2003. The faculty has an area of 18,500 square meters in 10 stories and aims to train new specialized forces. The needed funds have been supplied by the provincial gas department. The project has been commissioned by the department in charge of infrastructural projects of the Gas Engineering and Development Company and has been carried out over a plot of land with an area of 6,200 square meters.
Due to existence of large hydrocarbon reserves in Fars province and other southern regions of the country and due to the need for supplying specialized manpower to exploit them, launching the Oil and Gas Chemical Engineering Faculty seemed imperative.
The most important parts of the faculty include classrooms, laboratories, administrative section, library and book store, rooms for teachers, a chapel, amphitheater, technical and service workshops, parking lot and center engine room.
