Beginning of Executive Operations of the "Ahvaz-Koohdasht" Gas Pipeline

​During the visit of President, Seyed Ebrahim Raissi and Oil Minister, Javad Oji to Khuzestan, on Friday 8th May, the executive operation of the construction of Ahvaz-Koohdasht gas pipeline, which is an important part of the 9th Trans gas Trunk line, 400 km long, 56 inches in diameter and with an investment of 550 million dollars, in the form of four areas, With the presence of Reza Noshadi, CEO of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company and some of senior managers of the gas company and national officials, started as a video conference.
According to the public relations report, Noshadi, stated the background and objectives of this project and said: With the efforts of gas industry experts in the past years, the construction of the 9th Trans gas Trunk line parallel to the sixth Trans gas Trunk line, with the aim of strengthening the western ring of the country's gas network and strengthening gas exports to Iraq, started from Asaluyeh and reached Ahvaz Crit Camp area.
By saying that after the gas arrived in Ahvaz, the implementation of the "Ahvaz-Koohdasht" pipeline was put on the agenda and its implementation was entrusted to four different contractors, he explained: In continuation of the efforts to complete the 9th Trans gas Trunk line, the "Ahvaz-Koohdasht" project was started and so far, all four areas of the workshop have been equipped and machines have been put into operation.
He continued: Meanwhile a part of the pipes has also been transported to the workshop site for coating operations.
Pointing out that the implementation of the "Ahvaz-Koohdasht" project has a significant effect on the stability of gas supply in the western corridor, especially Kermanshah, Ilam and the sixth Trans gas Trunk line export line, Noshadi noted: Increasing the resilience of the 9th Trans gas Trunk line, the significant impact on the flow of gas transmission in the west of the country, and the stability of the network in the cold seasons of the year are among the important benefits of this project.
According to Noshadi, due to the fact that this pipeline has multiple interconnections with the sixth national gas line, it increases the gas transmission capacity and can fulfill the obligations between the two countries with a positive effect on the export lines and by benefiting the industries Located on the way, it will be the cause of development and production boom.
The CEO of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company mentioned the duration of this project as two years and said: The assignment of this huge 56-inch project to four capable contractors will enable the contractors to fulfill their obligations in providing the required costs and goods, and in this way, by increasing the work speed and productivity, the project will be put into operation in the shortest possible time.
Bijan Gorjian, the executive of the 9th Trans gas Trunk line project, also listed one of the achievements and blessings of the "Ahvaz-Koohdasht" project as localization of one of the strategic items of gas pipeline projects and stated: Formerly, the 70 x 1.25-inch-thick sheet was supplied through external sources and then converted into pipes in the domestic manufacturing plant, but in this project, for the first time in the country, the construction of sheets with the mentioned thickness was put on the agenda of the contractor and the manufacturer, which is considered an innovative achievement for the gas industry.
Referring to the impassability of the "Ahvaz-Koohdasht" gas pipeline route, especially in the first section, Gorjian further explained: In the first area (due to the requirements of passive defense), it is supposed that this line will pass through the flooded Karun River as an underpass, which, apart from the difficulty of the operation, requires the comprehensive cooperation of all involved organizations, including regional water and electricity, natural resources, The environment and the army of the Islamic Republic.
