Public Relations Department’s interview with Mr. Jaberi, head of the Personnel Department

All Personnel Problems Can Be Solved by Implementing Laws

Mr. Reza Jaberi was born in 1956. He has three children and is a graduate of administrative sciences. He has been working with the Gas Engineering and Development Company as head of the Personnel Department for about 2 years. In an interview with the Public Relations Department, he has talked about his powers and duties as well as services provided to the company’s personnel by his department.

 

 

-          Mr. Jaberi, first talk about importance of Personnel Department in the company.

Before fulfilling its organizational duties, the personnel department has extensive interaction with the manpower which has emotions and feelings. By using scientific information, we would be able to turn less motivated employees into active and responsible ones through proper treatment of manpower and encouraging respect for clientele.

According to the latest management theories, in production, service and industrial sectors, 65 percent of performance is owed to manpower and 35 percent to equipment and tools. Therefore, to maximize productivity, it is imperative to take advantage of ergonomic factors (human resources engineering) which cover such items as suitable work tools, suitable work environment, good lighting, prevention of sound pollution, environmental health, industrial health and good interaction.

-          He noted that organizational duties of the Personnel Department are very wide and added:

According to regulations of the oil industry, the Personnel Department is responsible for providing the personnel with various services including salary and fringe benefits, buying tickets, payment of expenses of domestic and foreign missions, giving various forms of housing, deposit and other loans, covering health and treatment costs, paying overtime wages, granting ordinary and floating promotions, family allowance, child and allowance, and taking care of leaves of absence and presence of personnel at the company.

-          Mr. Jaberi also noted that duties of the Personnel Department are not limited to the above instances and said:

Our employees also refer to the department for consultation on “various personnel affairs” which cover a wide range and which call for adequate experience and expertise. Providing them with required and sufficient explanation is a big part of our job.

-          He added that the Personnel Department aims to improve the situation of the employees and said:

In order to implement administrative changes and realize sustainable development, which covers adaptation of administrative roles, capabilities and abilities that are required for realization of sustainable development, we must take serious steps like changing our administrative system to match technological advances, encourage contributions from our staff, correct administrative structure in proportion to our duties and powers, empower the staff and enlighten them on administrative issues, answer to their demands, replace traditional administrative system with a modern one, reduce shortcomings, revive organizational culture, use software at all parts of the company to increase productivity and speed and in general, to respect all factors which will help us achieve our goal of sustainable development, in order to implement huge gas industry projects on time through our specialized and committed manpower.

Former posts held by Mr. Jaberi include head of the centralized employment services, head of the centralized job search for the staff of the National Iranian Gas Company and head of the administration at the Gas Engineering and Development Company.
