Mr. Gharibi, the managing director of Gas Engineering and Development Company, announced that the second phase of the 8th gas trunkline and an extension of the 3rd line which reaches Loshan have been made operational.
Gas injected into 8th trunkline from Abarkouh to 5th Tehran gas transmission line over 465 km
For more welfare of fellow countrymen and to provide more people with natural gas and to develop gas supply to power plants and other industries in north and northeast Iran, the 8th gas trunkline has been designed and constructed over a distance of 1,056 km with a diameter of 56 inches and final capacity of 110 million cu. m. per day in order to transfer part of natural gas produced by huge South Pars gas field from Kangan and Assaluyeh to west of Salt Lake in Qom provinces.
The first phase of the gas pipeline from Parsian refinery in Bushehr province to Abarkouh in Yazd province was made operational last year over a distance of 545 m. Gas injection in the remaining part of the pipeline which runs from Abarkouh to the 5th Tehran gas transmission pipeline at Neizar near Qom over 465 km has started as of December 27, 2009.
This part of the gas line will supply needed gas to Isfahan and other nearby cities and after connecting to the 5th Tehran pipeline, it will also supply gas to metropolitan Tehran and can boost gas supply to north and northeast country.
Gas injection into extension of 3rd trunkline from Kouhin to Loshan starts over 28 km
In order to supply gas from South Pars gas field and Kangan refinery and also to boost gas supply system to north and northeastern parts of the country, extension of the 3rd trunkline has been designed to run over 275 km with a diameter of 56 inches from Saveh to Lakan near Rasht.
The first phase of the line was made operational in 2007 and 2008 connecting Saveh in Markazi (Central) province to Kouhin in Qazvin province over 162 km. An extension of the pipeline from Kouhin to Loshan over 28 km has been made operational and gas injection started as of December 25, 2009.
