IGEDC Managing Director Visits Khorramabad Gas Pipeline

According to the Public Relations Department, Alireza Gharibi, the managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company, accompanied by members of board of directors, visited the second gas pipeline of Khorramabad on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 29 and 30.

During the visit, which was also attended by Payvan, manager of the second Khorramabad gas pipeline project, the GEDC delegation was briefed on the progress of the project and Mr. Gharibi gave necessary guidelines for progress and commissioning of the pipeline during various parts of his visit.

Mr. Gharibi also took part in an interview with the Public Relations Department of the company to explain about the present situation of the second Khorramabad gas pipeline.

He said, “The pipeline runs over 168.5 km and is 36 inches in diameter which will be injected with gas by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2010). According to current forecasts, 122.5 km of the pipeline will become operational before winter arrives. At present, about 167 km of the pipeline route is ready, 165 km of canals have been dug, 125 km of pipes have been welded, about 122.5 km of pipes have undergone radiography, about 112 km of the line has been insulated, 103 km of pipeline has been buried, and hydrostatic tests are going on along 90 km of the pipeline. During the next three months, hydrostatic tests will be done along the piece of the pipeline between 90 km and 122.5 km.”

Mr. Gharibi added that necessary equipment for seven stations and two launcher and receiver stations have been procured and will be taken to the workshop in the near future.

“About 155 km of pipes have been carried to the site and the rest will be carried soon. Total credits allocated to the project add up to about 325 billion tomans including design, engineering, implementation and procurement services,” he said.

The managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company further noted that by injecting gas to 122.5 km of the line, 13-14 million cubic meters of natural gas will be fed to Nahavand, Doroud, and Boroujerd and the pipeline will also increase gas supply to Khorramabad.
