In Presence of Iranian, Turkmen Presidents

According to the Public Relations Department of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company, the 2nd phase of a gas transfer pipeline from Turkmenistan to Iran was inaugurated by the presidents of the two countries on Sunday, Nov. 28.

The 2nd phase of the 2nd trunkline (North & Northeast) is a 380- kilometer long pipeline with a diameter of 48 inches which extends from Mayami in the north to Sangbast in Iran’s Mazandaran Province. This pipeline has the capacity to transport 58 million cubic meters of gas per day. The 2nd phase of the 2nd pipeline (frm Turkmenistan) extends from Shahid Hasheminejad Refinery to Sangbast with a length of 120 km and a diameter of 48 inches as well as a daily capacity of 45 million cubic meters.

The 1059-km long North & Northeast gas pipeline comprises two huge projects: One is located within Parchin – Mayami – Sangbast line and the other known as Turkmenistan-Iran 2nd gas trunkline which extends from Sarakhs border to Sangbast.

In addition to increasing Iran’s gas export capacity from northwestern regions to Europe, the project will meet gas shortage and future demand in the northeast regions of the country, particularly in the provinces of Semnan, Mazandaran, Golestan, Razavi Khorassan, North Khorassan, and South Khorassan within the next 20 years.

This project has been proudly implemented thanks to the ceaseless efforts of the gas industry managers and experts and by relying on capabilities of over 1,000 specialists under the most difficult climatic conditions and by going through numerous natural hurdles within a period of less than one month.

It is to be noted that the 1st phase of the North & Northeast gas trunkline extending from Parchin to Mayami with a length of 418 km and from Mayami to Dasht with a length of 106 km; as well as 1st phase of Turkmenistan-Iran Gas Line within Shahid Hasheminejad Refinery to Sarakahs with a length of 35 km, were commissioned last year.
