Giant Gas Project Comes on Stream in Western Iran

Deputy Petroleum Minister and Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company, Javad Owji says 3,000 kilometers of gas supply lines have been laid and commissioned in the country over the past year.

According to the Public Relations Department of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company, the official made the remark at the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of Khorramabad’s second gas pipeline in the western province of Lorestan. The project officially came on stream on Saturday in the presence of Iranian Petroleum Minister Masoud Mirkazemi, Alireza Gharibi, the managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company as well as project experts and contractors.

Owji said the implementation of the project has been done in 323 days which sets a time record.

With the commissioning of the first phase of the project a total of 14 million cubic meters of gas will be supplied. With the full execution of the 168 km line some 30 million cubic meters of gas will be supplied to Lorestan Preovince daily which will meet all the demands of the province.

The second gas supply line of Khorramabad with a length of 123-kilometer and a diameter of 36 inches started in October last year and was commissioned on Saturday.
