Interview with Mr Golpaiegani

Peace Pipeline to Multiply Share of Iran's Gas Exports

The Public Relations Office has conducted an interview with Mr Golpayegani, executive of the projects of the seventh nationwide gas pipeline and dispatching, excerpts of which are as follows:

Mr. Golpayegani elaborated on the seventh nationwide gas pipeline project and said:

The Project 56" of the seventh nationwide gas pipeline with a length of 907 km from Assaluyeh to Iranshahr has been completed and put into operation and currently gas is available in Iranshahr. But, the project for continuation of the seventh nationwide gas pipeline is under implementation in the three directions of Iranshahr / Pakistan border, Iranshahr / Zahedan and Chabahar split, with a total length of 640 km.

He underlined the grave importance of this pipeline and further remarked:

The pipeline which is also known as the Peace Pipeline is important from several points of view. With the implementation of this pipeline the last deprived province in the country, Sistan and Baluchestan, has been linked to the nationwide gas network and our fellow countrymen in this province would benefit from its blessing. Second, industries and power stations along this line, especially in southern Kerman Province and Bandar Abbas, would be fed by this pipeline. Furthermore, the possibility of exporting gas to Pakistan and subsequently to India and China would be provided in future through this pipeline and thus grounds would be prepared for the export of gas to over one third of the world population.  Therefore, not only the share of our country in the world energy basket would be increased, Iran’s role in international equations would also become further noticeable.

The executive of the project for the seventh nationwide gas pipeline also announced that contractor of the project would be Khatam-ul Anbia Headquarters. He stressed that this project is different from all other projects of the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company. The intolerable heat, massive sand storms and presence of bandits in the region have made implementation of the project very difficult and, therefore, the colleagues benefit from high spiritual values.

Golpayegni in continuation elaborated on the dispatching project and said:

The dispatching project was planned in 2008 with an aim to develop and complete control system of expanded gas system throughout the country. It is composed of two emergency and main projects and is operating without organizational chart and human resources.

He described projects of the dispatching plan and said:

Implementation of 50 emergency projects of remote terminals (RTU) and their connection to (NCC) centre was completely accomplished with the selection of a consultant and a contractor within six months and 47 sensitive points entered into the dispatching network of the National Iranian Gas Company.  Currently, measures are underway to connect 16 other stations to the centre within the next month which would facilitate control by the colleagues of the dispatching management.

It should be noted that foreign items needed for the project were procured despite the sanctions.

- The main project has been started recently with the appointment of a domestic consultant, a Canadian consultant and a domestic consultant for high supervision. Conceptual design of the project has been completed and through its approval by the board of directors of the National Iranian Gas Company, basic designing for equipping 500 (RTU) stations to the two centers of (NCC) in Tehran and (BCC) in Isfahan as well as full equipment of Isfahan centre has been completed and tender formalities are underway for the selection of EPC contractor.

- The future plan of the project is full equipment of points of the gas system which have currently been estimated at about 1600 points. It is predicted that after the selection of EPC contractor implementation of the project would take three years.
