Strengthening the Gas Network West of Gilan and Northwestern Provinces of the Country

It comes true with implementation of "Rasht-Chalvand" project




Rasht-Chalvand project is one of the important projects of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) which Strengthening the gas network in West Gilan, Ardabil provinces, East and West Azerbaijan.
According to the public relations report, this project achieved its goals with the efforts of the employees of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company and with their tireless efforts and overcoming geographical, climatic and land acquisition obstacles.
By saying that the 42-inch gas transmission line "Rasht-Chalvand" is being implemented in proximity of the First Iranian Gas Trunk line, Nematollah Shahrowi, the manager of the project explained the necessity of its implementation and stated: Considering that more than 50 years have passed since the life of the First Iranian Gas Trunk line, it was necessary to replace it with a new pipeline, therefore, the construction of the "Rasht-Chalvand" project was put on the agenda.
Explaining the features of the "Rasht-Chalvand" project, he explained: This pipeline starts from the Lakan gas pressure boosting facility in Rasht and continues to the Chalvand area of Astara to connect to the 30-inch line in Ardabil and transfer gas to the northwest of the country.
By saying that the project is under construction in two parts, he continued: The first part extends from Lakan Rasht to Pere Sar Power Plant and the second part extends from Pere Sar Power Plant to Chalvand.
Shahrowi considered the implementation of the "Rasht- Chalvand" project to strengthen the gas network in the west of Gilan, Ardabil, provinces of East and West Azerbaijan and stated: The first part of this project has 8 gas valve stations, 5 branches, 1 cathodic protection station and 1 launcher station and for the second part, 7 gas valve stations, 1 cathodic protection station and 1 receiver are planned.
