Public Relations Department’s interview with Mr. Payon, official in charge of provincial pipelines project

Knowledge and Belief in Work Cause Rapid Progress
Public Relations Department: Official in charge of provincial gas pipelines emphasized that this is one of the most sensitive projects of the Gas Engineering and Development Company because it should be accountable to both officials and people in the relevant provinces.
Mr. Hassan Payon, a graduate of chemical engineering from Abadan Oil Industry University, has been employed by the Ministry of Petroleum since 1975 and was sent to Isfahan Province Gas Company in 1981. After 34 years of services, he is now in charge of provincial pipelines. The following is the text of his interview with the Public Relations Department.
Q: Mr. Payon, will you please tell us what posts you have been holding since your employment?
A: I have worked in more than 10 posts at the Ministry of Petroleum including senior engineer of provincial gas networks, project manager, head of engineering services, managing director of Isfahan Province Gas Company, and advisor to the managing director of the Gas Engineering and Development Company. Since 2007, I have been in charge of provincial pipelines project.
Q: Please explain about the beginning and progress of provincial pipelines project?
A: I was given two missions in 2007: firstly to organize and attract skilled manpower and, secondly, to follow up and implement projects. This project has been one of the most important projects of the Gas Engineering and Development Company because relevant projects are followed up independently by provincial officials.
Q: How far have the projects progressed thus far?
A: Provincial gas pipeline projects, all of which have been passed during President Ahmadinejad’s provincial visits are as follows:
1. Construction of booster pipeline to Khalkhal over a distance of 80 km with a diameter of 20 inches and construction of 60 km of gas transmission pipeline with a diameter of 10 inches to supply gas to Kuraeim, Kolour and Hashtjin towns in Ardebil province, which has progressed 54 percent;
2. Construction of 2nd Khorramabad pipeline over 165 km with a diameter of 36 inches which has progressed 26 percent in order to supply gas to Khorramabad and pave the way for gas supply to Khorramabad’s future power plant with a progress rate of 26 percent;
3. Construction of Boshraviyeh–Tabas gas pipeline over 97 km with a diameter of 20 inches which has progressed to 4.27 percent in order to supply gas to Tabas;
4. Construction of the 2nd phase of 2nd Kerman pipeline over 75 km with a diameter of 30 inches and progress rate of about 18 percent;
5. Construction of Bijar–Saqqez gas pipeline over 145 km with a diameter of 20 inches which is going through formalities of consultant selection;
6. Construction of north Qazvin gas pipeline, which is about 10 km long and 16-20 inches in diameter and is going through project design.
On the whole, provincial pipeline projects will cost about 3,300,000 million rials and will transmit 105 million cu. m. gas per day.
