Qazvin gas compression station is ready for commissioning

Construction of Qazvin gas compression station has been finished and it will be officially inaugurated soon. Alireza Gharibi, the managing director of the Gas Engineering and Development Company, announced that to increase gas transmission capacity and continue gas export to Turkey, Armenia and Nakhichevan, the Gas Engineering and Development Company is to build four stations on the 48” Azarbaijan gas pipeline.
He added, “Khorramdarreh and Hashrtoud stations were made operational in 2006 and Zanjan station went on-stream in 2007.” Mr. Gharibi added that new stations will increase gas transmission capacity of the 2nd Azarbaijan pipeline from 30 million cu. m. to 60 million cu. m.
He stated that after supplying the needed gas to Azarbaijan region, the excess capacity of the line will be used to export gas to Turkey, Armenia, and Nakhichevan.
Mr. Gharibi reminded that turbines and compressors of Qazvin station availed of the latest European technology and were manufactured by the Iranian Oil Turbo-Compressor (OTC) company in cooperation with Germany’s Siemens and a Swedish company.
The managing director of the Gas Engineering and Development Company further noted that a total of 500 billion rials has been invested in the station through internal sources of the company. He said, “Thus far, 52 percent of turbines and 85 percent of compressors have been manufactured by domestic producers.” It should be noted that Qazvin gas compression station is located 25 km from Qazvin city toward Boein Zahra and is 3 km from Nosratabad.
